Sunrise Dam 8 Mega Watt Expansion for EPSA and EDL-RE

Petro Min Engineers were engaged by Energy Power Systems Australia (EPSA) to provide the detailed electrical and controls design for the installation of 2x 4MW gas engines into the Sunrise Dam power station which is owned and operated by Energy Developments – Remote Energy to supply part of the 18MW required by Anglo Gold Ashanti’s Sunrise Dam Gold Mine.

Petro Min’s scope included;

  • Power systems analysis
  • Electrical protection systems design and settings
  • Auxiliary panels and controls detailed design and arrangement of the panels for each engine
  • Detailed design for common services including ventilation controls, data network interconnection, lubrication oil transfer and fill systems etc
  • Design of the modifications and extensions to the existing earth grid
  • Lighting and small power design
  • Cable sizing and selection
  • High Voltage submission to the Western Australian Department of Mines and Petroleum
  • Hazardous area equipment dosier and test and inspection procedures
  • Modifications to the existing power station DC systems, auxiliary power supplies, 11kV main switch
