Petro Min Engineers successfully completed the electrical and controls design for the Z110 Underground Workshop at the Granny Smith Gold Mine – Wallaby Deposit.
The workshop which is used to provide general service, maintenance and repairs on various underground mining vehicles comprises of the following facilities:
- Three (3) Workshop Service Bays.
- One (1) Boilermakers Bay.
- One (1) Hose Bay.
- Refuge Chambers, Ablutions, Stores, Office, and Crib Bays.
- Hydrocarbon Storage, Compressor, and a (future) Fuel Bay, as well as a
- Wash Bay and a Dewatering Collection Sump.
The design encompassed 1000V, 415V and 240V reticulation services to various equipment throughout the underground workshop, with careful attention to the specific requirements stipulated under the latest Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022.
PME provided Company support throughout the design and procurement process of all underground equipment, including the prefabricated buildings, to ensure the custom installation and level of safety is provided beyond the norm and be compliant.
As part of the underground workshop, Petro Min Engineers developed various control system designs including Sumps and Dewatering Systems, Hydrocarbon and Lubricant Delivery Systems for the Workshop Service Bays and a Ventilation Control System for the Inspection Pit of Workshop Service Bay No.2.
Petro Min Engineers has had a long-standing relationship with Gold Fields Limited and the GSM Mining Company and are pleased to accomplish yet another project to their satisfaction.
